WAI-TOI-TOI. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Last week Mr. A, D, Carr's sale attracted a large number of buyers, and bidding was brisk. The cows averaging £2l Bs, whilst the horses and implements fetched good prices. Mr. Can Intends residing In New Plymouth, where he has purchased a residence near the racecourse, and both he and Mrs. Carr and family will carry with them the good wishes of all the district. Mr. Beauchamp, who purchased the farm, has shifted Into his new residence; On Thursday, next the North Ta»anaM Hunt' Club will hold a meet at Messrs. Corcoran Bros, and as hares are fairly plentiful members should have an enjoyable day's outing. It is now come years since the houndg were In Wal-tol-tol, when a imeet was held at Mr. Fat MeCormlck's, who will be remembered as a most popular settler. Mr. Arthur Cliff ■mis connected with the Club In those days, and will be as equally well remembered as a Rood sport and a fearless rider. Things have not changed In the respect of genuine Bport, since those days, despite the troublous times we have been through, and are still going through, and it is pleasing to note that several candidates are in training for the Club's meet on the 29th of August. In talking of races it might be mentioned Chat Mr. Leo. O'Neill's Kalpikari, which ran so consistently at the beach races at Wai-tol-toi, has been sent to Auckland, and. If breeding is any criterion, should do credit to himself. Despite the wet state of the evening the euchre party held in the Urenui Hall on, Thursdny evening last was well attended, the prizes being won by Mr. Fitzgerald and Miss E. Rogers. Tho Bachelor's Ball at Urutl on Friday evening, proved an unqualified success, and the committee are to be complimented upon the hospitality shown. The Waltara orchestra supplying the music was a surfcient guarantee of its excellence, whilst the catering was all that could be desired. Influenza Is continuing to be most prevTTlent in the district, and Urenui Is getting a very full share of the epidemic, which, though not so cr'jel as on its fonmer 7lsitatlon, wants carefully watching. Mr. I. C. tone, of Urenui, has purchased Ml aews trim Messrs Spurr Bros., opposite the lictor>, Mrt Intendß milking thereon during the conßv Mason. I understand Messrs Spurr Bros. inHmfl building on the remaining portion of their property, and will still continue to supply the factory. The Returned Soldiers' Plain and Fancy Dress Masquerade Ball to be given to the indies of Urenui district, to' be held in the Urenui Town Hall on July 22nd, promises to be a most successful function, and great pre- , potations are being made by the committee $9 give a suitable return to the ladles who ,|»n the tojl mob « whmild ntleomt home.
