The Peking correspondent of the New York Times reports thin, iite situation is growing seribus as the result of contests between the militaristic Anfu party and the anti-militarists. It is understood that the Anfu party will send forqfes to Peking and the President may he imprisoned is the palace. It is thought that fighting is now Inevitable." Wealthy Chinese are taking their valuables to the foreign Legations and taking refuge in foreign hotels and hospitals. Others are fleeing to Tientsin.
Peking, July 10. Thai diplomatic corps has warned the Government that in the event of an uprising there must not be fighting within the city and Pekinfi must not be subject to a b'ombardmenv. At the instance of Tuan-chi-jui the President has dismissed General Wet and deprived General Tsaoqun of military rank. Portions of Tuan's troops are advancing against the armies of 'iiis opponents, which are based upon Paon-ing-fu, whence American missionaries are withdrawing under orders. Hostilities are imminent. Tuan secured considerable financial help, which is of vital importance, as thinese soldiers invariably decline to flfent unless paid in advance. Tuan guarantees the safety of the foreign population of Peking, where the situation is easier, though complicated. The,; Aeroplane Corps at Peking has decided.to o-opcrate with Tuan in the event of bombing machines being sent from Pao-ning-fu. Meanwhile Chinese expect that Tuan's opponents will take refuge in Tientsin.
