ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE PEOPLE'S. LAST NIGHT OF "THE CLIMBERS." The splendid six-reel Vitagraph feature, "The Climbprs," starring beautiful Corinne Griffith and concluding to-night at the People's, is the story of a beautiful and pampered young society girl, who marries the wrong man, yet lives to enjoy true love with the faithful Ned Warden, of Mr. Fitch's story. The bill includes latest gazettes, comedy, and a magnificent Outingchester scenic "BLINDNESS OF DIVORCE," TO-MORROW. Presidents, governors, clergymen, and reformers, yes, even the Congress of the . 'United States, have all tried to find the 1 source of the divorce germ, but without any great degree of success. The wedding march was not written to be "jazzed" or "ragged." It should be played with dignity and harmony. See modem divorce evils as they exist in i the William Fox picturisation of "The Blindness of Divorce." The players are all star artists, and there is a good sup> porting bill. EVERYBODY'S. NORMA TALMADGE AS "POPPY," TO-NIGHT. As the final scenes were taken of Norma Tnlmadge's production of "Poppy," made from Cynthia Stoekley's fascinating story nf the love-starved South African girl, the conviction was hammered home that this feature photoplay is destined to create a sensation I surpassing that of the novel. From producer to "props," enthusiasm about the studies of this picture reached unprecedented heights. Of all the popular novels that have been visualised it is doubtful if any possessed anything like the potential qualities of "Poppy." Romance, action, surprise, suspense, and all the component parts of drama vie for supremacy on every page, and in transfert ring to the screen, the exasperation of the director has been to determine what to omit, so bountiful is the material. That Norma Talmadge, in her depiction of Cynthia Stoekley's heroine, Poppy Destiu, the child of nature, over whose trials and tribulations a whole world has wept, achieves the greatest triumph of her illustrious career, was predicted hv those privileged to see the first running of the completed portion of the picture. Miss Talmadge has grasped with almost uncanny appreciation the author's conception, and, imbued witli the spirit of the story and a sympathetic feeling for its principal figure, she has given a characterisation which will redound immeasurably to her glory. "Poppy" shows at Everybody's to-night and to-morrow, at the usual price. j i | | I ! I j
