PARK WEEK.

COMMENCING TUESDAY, AUGUST 0. There was a gpod attendance at Mrs, Burgess' rooms last evening in response to the call for helpers in connection with the Pukekura Park week. Mr. W. A. Collis presided. Mrs. Burgess outlined the programme, commencing on the evening of August 9 with a Jazz Evening/in which possibly the assistance of professionals . will be sought. Among suggestions for the following evenings are a band programme of Gilbert and Sullivan airs (accompaniment for dancing), a nigger minstrel troupe, and Maori hakas, the finale commencing on Friday evening with Paddy's Market. Mr. Stainton (secretary) said that very fine assistance had been received from several quarters, including the Defence Department (who were giving' the hall free) and the Agricultural Society. Arrangements for the inauguration of various committees were then considered. Mr. Hartnell undertook to get a committee of returned soldiers for the erection of stalls. Other departments were allotted as follows, each delegate being empowered to secure as many workers as possible for the respective committees:—Decorations, Messrs R. Bennoch, Sadler, and Roper; dancing, Messrs McGinty, Howell, and E. Whittle; guessing competition, Messrs Honan, Marti]), West, and doorkeepers, Mr. W. C. Weston; Paddy's Market committee, Messrs Roper, Willis, Weston, Armstrong, Sadler, and Bates; surprise jUickets, Messrs Sadler and Bales; publicity. Mr. Cooper; children's entertainment, Mr. E.
