TARANAKI FACTORY MANAGERS.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Factory Managers' Association was held at Hawera yesterday afternoon, Mr. E. H. Reeve (Mangatoki), the provincial president, presiding over an attendance of about 25 members. The annual report stated that six meetings of the executive had been held during the year, and that a considerable amount of work had been put through. Sixteen new members had been enrolled. It would be noted by the balance-sheet that the finances showed n debit bal- ; ance. The executive considered ttiat in future working expenses should come out of the general fund. Taranaki tried to get 'this principal affirmed at last annual meeting, but without avail. It was a matter that would have to be attended to, as without finance it was impossible to work the affairs of the association here satisfactorily. Members generally were of opinion that if other provincial bodies had contributed equally as well as Taranaki as regarded subscriptions the Association should be enabled to make this concession. Two very successful grading conferences were held during the year at Patea and at Moturoa grading works, the Dairy Commissioner and his staff being present. They had to thank Mr. Cuddie and his staff for the trouble taken to made the conference the success they ,were; also the West Coast Refrigerating Co., and the Taranaki Producers' Co. for granting facilities for inspecting the respective works. The chairman considered that the fact that the number of members had been doubled during the year showed that the formation of the provincial district j had been amply justified. He expressed pleasure at seeing such a large attendance. Owing to the scattered nature of the district he considered that it might be advisable to form a subsidiary branch in North Taranaki. The report and balance-sheet were then adopted without discussion. Twelve new members were elected. Officers were elected as follows: Secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. F. Neilson (re-elected), members paying a tribute to the splendid services he had rendered; executive, Messrs. H. Crosbie (Kakaramea), L. Taylor (Lowgarth), S. Hall ,(Okat.o), J. W. Bowman (Midhirst), and D. Cameron (Cardiff). Mr. Neilson moved that this meeting is in favor of the formation of a branch in North Taranaki, and that Mr, J. W. Bowman be given authority to take the necessary steps to establish a branch. Mr. Taylor (Lepperton) seconded the resolution, which was carried.
