The poles have begun counter-attacks in Volhynia. Bolshevik attempts to force the Beresina and the offensives in the south of Polock and Fodolia have fceee. defeated With severe losses. These local operations are developing into a jrwnt battle on the whole front. The Bolshevists have concentrated the bulk ef ihelr forces between the Dvina and toe Dnieper region at Smolensk. The position is Serious. The Bolshevist advance is _ pregnant with grave consequences to Poland and the Baltic States, enabling direct communication between Germany and Soviet Russia. The Polish delegate at the Spa Conference says that Marshal Foch is in possession of documents indisputably proving the intention of Germany to make war against Poland. Berlin, July 7. Warsaw advices state that the Bolshevists have begun an offensive on the northern front from north of the Molodetchmo-Polock railway. Four divisions are participating.—Reuter Service.
