INGLEWOOD COUNTY.
FIRST COUNCIL ELECTED. The election of the first County Council to represent the new Inglewocd County took place yesterday in the three ridings in which there were contents, and resulted as follows: East Riding.—M. S. Cameron 4.5 (elected), W. Topping 2S. Nc.th Riding.—J. Hunter 126, J. H. Lvon 104 (elected), J. Diggins 32, 11. Sander 31. West Riding.,-A. Corkill 144, R. Stuart 111, J. B. Simpson u5 (elected), D. Todd (18. In tiie South Riding, Messrs A. E. Cowley, J. M. Hair, and Henry Jones were returned unopposed. The new Council will therefore comprise Messrs A. Corkill, R. Stuart, J. B. Simpson, J. Hdnter, J. H. Lyon, A. E. Cowley, J. M. Hair (all of whom were members of the old Road Board), and Messrs Henry .Tones and M. S. Cameron. It is a. compliment to the members of the Moa Road Board that the ratepayers returned as many as possible to the new council. Mr. T. S. Bowler, n member of the old Moa Board, did not seek re-election; while in one riding four members of the old Board stood for three seats, and consequently one had to be rejected.
