LAND FOR SOLDIERS.
QUESTIONS ABOUT AN ESTATE. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P. (Taranaki) is moving that there be laid before the House a return showing the following particulars regarding the purchase by the Government in 1916 of .the Tlttiumefc' Estate in the Wairarapa district for Boldier settlement, the return to show separately: (a) area of estate; (b) amount of purcliase money paid to the owner (Mr. C. C. Holmes); (c) the rateable value, and the capital value respectively; (d) the Government valuation of improvements; (e) the average unimproved ov taxable value and the capital value respectively of all the soldiers' sections on this estate under 1919 valuations; (f) the aggregate capi' tal of all sections of this estate at the time of the ballot; and (§r) the average increase in the rateable or unimproved value, and the capital value respectively of the four private estates (VVatefalls, Kebbles', Savages', Brooklands) adjoining Tiraumea under, the i 1818 valuations, as compared with the | 1916 valuations.
