BOROUGH COUNCIL.
CONTROL OF WESTERN*. PARK. NEW CONDITIONS APPROVED. The New Plymouth Borough Council met last evening. Present: The; Mayoj (Mi-. Jas. Clarke), Cra. J. W. Hoyden F. J. Hill, W. F. Short, W. A. OolUs, A S. Brooker, R. L. Parkin, A. E. Sykes I and V. Griffiths. In regard to the control of Western PaTk, the (following recommendation*! were endorsed:— That the appointment of the following as the executive of the Western Park Board be approved by the Council, Viz.— Messrs. A. L. Humphries (chairman), 6 A. Corney, F. L.'Hartnell, V. Elliott, J. P. IJarthorp, W. D. Webster, E. B. Kingdon, and L. H. Honeyfteld (secretary). Or. Hill to be the Council's representative on the Western Park Executive CommitteeThat the conditions Upon which the control of the Park shall be vested in the committee be the conditions submitted in the report of the Reserves Committed of September 28th, 1919, subject to the following amendments; — The committee will be authorised during the pleasure of the Council to ad> minister and control the Western Park; containing approximately 10 acres 1 rood, but excluding therefrom the portion now enclosed and used by the West End Bowl- i ing Club. The rent payable by the Bowling Club shall, however, be paid to the Western Par)c Committee. Paragraph (d). is amended by adding at the end thereof: Provided, however, . that the resumption of a portion, of the Park shall not bo deemed to terminate the Committee's control of the remaining portion. Paragraph (e) is amended to deleting the words: "Executive Committee of not exceeding eight members." PUKEKURA PARK. The secretary of the PukekUra Park Board wrote stating that at last meeting attention was drawn to the much-in-creased Work of the Board and the necessity for all members attending, It was realised that members of the Borough Council had numerous calls, but the difficulty might be overcome by appointing representatives of the Council ftojn outside the Council in future. It was decided that the Board be Informed that the request will be considered when fresh appointments are being made. THE LIEtRARY, Cr. Collis remarked that.nonfe of tho library staff were present at certain 'lours, and a suggestion had been made that efforts be made to keep someone in ittendance in the lending department •ight through.
