THE PEOPLE'S LAST NIGHT OF "IN THE "GLOAMING." The Broadwest all-English production, "In the Gloaming," presenting vivacious Violet Hopson and Jack Jarman, screens finally to-night at the People's. The bill includes gazette, comedy, and interest films. BIG FOX DOUBLE BILL TO-MORROW. Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, Primate of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States, takes an unalterable position with reference to divorce. "Divorce is the one great, black spot upon American civilisation," he said. "It is terriblo, unspeakable, outrageous. The number of divorces in the United States in proportion to the population is the greatest in the world. Think of that stain on our escutcheon! The salvation of society depends upon the family. The salvation of the family depends upon the preservation of the marriage bond for all time, ©issolvie the marriage bond and you virtually dissolve society. Marriage is a woman's destiny. It is the aim of her life. Her work should be for her husband, her children, and her home. Anything that interferes with' her in this, her true sphere, is wrong, and divorce does this."
« EVERYBODY'S. , TOM MOORE IN "GO WEST, .YOUNG MAN." ' That delightful Irishman, Tom Moore, in "Go West, Young Man," has again got a story that suits him to the ground. Fired out by an irate parent for idleness, Tom becomes a hobo, getting his transportation and meals by the methods employed by hoboes all the world over, till he reaches his goal "Out West," where he has a go at dish-wash-ing. Eventually he is selected, for obvious reasons, for the post of sheriff, but turns out a wrong selection, as he cleans up the very bad men who elected him. There's a girl, Ora Carew, who renders herWf indispensable to Tom, and between them they provide plenty of dashing fun and thrilling adventure. "Go West, Young Man," is showing to-night and to-morrow at Everybody's, and on the same programme there .is another "Stingareo" story, "To the Vile Dust," a Pathe Gazette, and an Educational I Review.
