BIG DAIRY AMALGAMATION.
TURNOVER OF £3,000,000. _ Another important dairy' amalgamation is at present under the consideration of the shareholders of the Thames Yfjley Co-operative Dairy Company (lays an exchange). The latter is claimed to be the largest dairy concern in the world, and the Thames Company ranks as the second largest company in New Zealand. The shareholders of the Thames Company will give their decision in a vote on July 8. Should this be favorable to amalgamation, the Waitoa group will continue to work under the name of the Thames Valley Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., until the liability is wiped out by a deduction of 6d per lb butter-fat per season. The Waitoa (Thames Valley) dried milk group" may therefore run as a subsidiary company to the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., much in the same way as the Zeamndia Co-operative Milk Foods, Ltd. The great advantage* of this additional amalgamation will" be to further consolidate the dairy interests of the South Auckland province, and thereby give the producers a very strong hand in marketing their produce to the best advantage. All the dried milk factories will therefore be under the control of one management. If the negotiations are successful, the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., Will have an annual turnover of about £3,000,000. ■
