Therkleson, senr., who are leaving for Palmerston North after a residence of about 33 years at Tar&i, ivlere entertained on Tuesday afternoon in the Tariki Hall by the ladies of the district. Several speakers referred to the m&ny services rendered to the district by Mr. and Mrs. Therkleson, and particularly the many kindly acts performed by Mrs. Therkleson, who was always ready to come to the assistance of her neighbors—a ticularly valuable asset in the old days,
when roads nnd moam of locomotion were not so good as they are now. The guests were presented with a tea service. 1 , DANCE. j The second of the series of assemblies, held on Wednesday, proved even a I greatesr success than tlic first. The night being beautifully clear and frosty,, induced quite a number of visitors to motor through from other towns, and each and all decided it was an extremely successfully dance. The music by Mi>. George's* orchestra was, as usual, excellent, and the supper tables were beautifully decorated bf Miss Rata Whitton, in pink camelias, violets, and autumn leaves.
