WHALE STRANDED.
NEAR PUKEARUIIE. 1 Whilst Mr, N. J. Freeth's two (laughters were on the beach at Wai-iti, Pukearuhe, yesterday afternoon, they aaplecl a large whale stranded north of what is known as Fishing Rock, juat past Mr. C. A. Wilkinson's seaside residence. " It was afterwards seen to have -been harpooned, the harpoop, with a piece of rope attached, obtruding from its back. It is about from 40 to 42 feet long, and.n. good specimen of its kind. Motors can approach, within three-quarters offt mile from the spot, which, by the way, la one of the most, picturesque parts of Taranaki's sea front.
