The statement by the financial newspapers, cabled on the 22nd., that the underwriting commission for the New South Wales loan would be 1 per cent. 1s denied. It is stated officially that the ruling rate of 1% per cent, will be paid.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Heceived June 30, 3 p.m. London, June 29. Though some circles consider the political factors, as cabled on June 24, contributed to the result of the New South Wales loan, banking circles consider the true explanation is the frequency of New South Wales' appeals on the London money market, otherwise the high rate of interest would have been attractive enough, despite the increasing scarcity of Investable money.—Aus.-N.Z. It m reported that a Bradford syndicate has bought 100,000 bales of colonial wool originally Intended for the last London auctions bul has not offered or withdrawn It. It is estimated that the purchase price Is £4,000,000. It is understood that the wool is intended for idle Continental factories, which at present are unable to .finance their own purchases of raw material—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford), report, as follows: 1 On 22nd lust., at Stratford, we had a fair yarding and the following prices were realised: Lambs 23s Gd, culls 8s 6d, dairy cows £l3 5s to £l4 10s. On the 24th Inst, we held a clearing sale on behalf of Messrs. Faynter Bros., Taiata. The attendance was very large and we have jo report a very good sale, full market rates being obtained for everytlhng offered, i.e. heifers being keenly competed for. The following prices were realised: Lambs, 22s 3d; 2-tooth ewes and wethers (mixed), 245; 4 and 6-tooth and f.f.m. ewes, £1 2s; weaner steers, Holßtein, 365, 37S 6d; mixed breeds, £1 7s; Jersey heifers, £4 ss; Holsteln heifers, £3 18s 6d; Shorthorn heifers, £3; store cows, £4 ss; Jersey steers (2%-year), £4 18s; empty Ho)stein lielfers, £G 18s Gd; 2-year bulls, £4 10s; 20-enonth steers, £3; yearling Jersey heifers, £8 15s; I.e. heifers, £ll 10s to £2O 10s; cows, £l2 to £27; draught horses, £3O, £34 10s. Implements also sold well. Overland motor car realised £382 10s, Private Sales.—Enquiries for dairy stock are now numerous, good cows and i.e. heifers being soon disposed of. Young sheep were also in demand. Lambs, 23s 6d; 2-tooth ewes, 295, 33s Cd; f.f.m. ewes, 21s, 22s 6d; 4-tooth wethers, 31s; i.e. heifers, £lO 10s to £ls; dairy cows, £l3 to £lB. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Co. Ltd. (Hawera branch) report: On Monday, at Kakardatmea, we disposed of most of the yarding, before lea.ving. We had a ?ary successful sale of sundries on account of various clients. We quote: Dairy cows £lO 15g to £l7 10s, atore cows £3 to £5, fat and forward cows £lO Is, empty heifers £4 15s to £O, lambs 16s 3d, store pigs 26s to 335, light draught mare £32. At Eithnm, on Wednesday, we had a fair yarding. We quote: Forward cows £7, stores £3 17s Gd to £6 Bs, bullocks £l4 3s, heifers Un calf) £7 Is, weaner heifers £2 12s Bd, pigs (stores) 33s to 365, lambs fit, forward ewes 31s Gd, On. the same day we had a very successful sale of dairy cows on account of Mr. Malcolm McDonald. We quote: Dairy cows £l3 15s to £27 10s. At Hawera, on Thursday, we had a fair yarding. We quote: Forward cows £8 4s to £ll 6s, stores £5 to £7 15s, boners £2 2s 6d to £4 10s, dairy cows £lO 2s Gd to £lB ss, heifers (In calf) £6 Gs, 2 and 4tooth wethers 32s 9d, ewes (f.f.m.) 17s, ewes (in lamb) 18s. cull lambs 7s to lis Id, pigs' (store) £2, slips 265. On Friday, we held a very successful sale on account of, Mr, G. S. Martin, Rawhitlroa. We quote: Dairy cows £l6 to £3l. On the same day at Waverley, owing to the rough weather, We had only a small yarding We quote: Heifers in calf (Bmall) £9 to £lO ss, empty ewes (poor conditions) 16s 7d, 2tooth wethers 27s 2d, lambs 19s Gd. On Saturday, -we held a verv successful solo of dairy cows on account of Mr. Daniel Heanessy, Kaponga. Prices ranged from £l4 10s to £35. AUCKLAND STOCK MARKETS. At Westfield, dairy cattle sold under steady competition at late quotations. Best dairy cows, close to profit .£l6 Is to £2B ss, best dairy heifers, close to profit, £ls to £23 ss, other cows and heifers, close to profit, £ll to £l4 15s, backward calvers £7 to £l4 10s. Store cattle, penned In stfnall numbers, were again dull of sale. Hoggets £1 to £1 4s 6d. . At our horse sale at Pukekohe bidding was keen for all good sorts, especially young medium to heavy farm horses, which sold from £3O to £4l, older sound horses of same class £lB to £33, aged and worn £7 to £ls, good young hack and harness sorts £lO to £l7, others £5 to £9 10s, light unbroken £2 10s to £5, weedy and unsound, 10s upward. There was a big entry of dairy cattle at Henderson, the bidding being BrlsS from a larpe gathering, of buyers. Good sound cows £l3 10s to £lB for early calvers, backward sorts £9 to £l3, old and poor £4 to £8 15s, three-year klllable steers £lO, Jersey heifer calres £4 to £6 2s _6d, other calves, best £1 15s to £2 ss, jioor 12s upwards, yearling to 18-raonths heifers £3 to £3 10s, bulls £4 to £6. At Westfield fat stock marltet beef sold under keen, competition, prices improving as 'he sale, progressed. We quote choice ox to £2 14s per 10001b, prime ox £2 9s to £2 13s. rough Inferior ox £2 3s to £2 Ss, eow and heifer beef £2 2s to £2 Us. Steers, best £l9 to £27 2s Gd, other steers £l2 to £lB 17s 6d cows and heifers sold from £9 to £l7.
