Now the eminent Judge goes out of his way in Christehurch to rebuke the other side' (the worker) for the Attitude it was assuming ilt restricting the earning capacity of employees. Listen to this (as per the Press Association report) After hearing evidence, His Honor said that at New Plymouth evidence was given that under tlie team system workers were able to earn 50 per pent higher wages, and to produce clothing at reasonable rates. Mr. F. R. Cooke (for thp Union): That system robs the ■workers of their individuality and makes slaves of women. His Honor: The women did not lodk like slaves. They Were strong, intelligent looking women, who resisted interference with the conditions under which they were working. The "team" system referred to by Mr. Justice Stringer is not the system that obtained in the old days when the nigger-driving indulged in brought the system into ill repute.
