-- i 1 ANNUAL MEETING. , ' Tbe annual, meeting of the New Plymouth ! Male Choral Society was held last night in ; the Citizens' Bandroom. of ] the committee, Mr. A. S. Brooder, presided ( over a good attendance of members. The annual report stated that the past year had been one of many trials to the socley. The report detailed the results achieved, and went on to refer to the clo3e associations formed with the Hawera and Wanganui male choirs. An Invitation had been received from Wanganui to join with Hawera iu a combined concert In Wanganui. Honorary members show on increase for the year of 14, bringing tho total number to 95, representing 5 a guaranteed revenue of £77 13s. The ei--1 per.dlture for the past year amounted to £lO7. The choir has 34 active members. The bal-ance-sheet showed a credit balance of £l3 8s \ 9d—Adopted. * ■ • ) The election of officers resulted as follows: ( Patron, The Mayor (Mr. Jas. Clarke); presU ) dent, Dr. Walker; vice-presidents, Archdeacon I Evans, Messrs. C. H. Burgess, A. S. Brooker, ! W. T. Hookham, J. G. Barthorp; committee, 5 Messrs. R. Day, G. H. White, H. Bttllln, N. r Fulton, A. Veale; socretary, Mr. A. B. Macdonald; treasurer and librarian, Mr. H. Bul-lln-j- assistant librarian, Mr. J. Taylor; conductor, Mr. F. W. G. McLeod; chairman of committee, Mr.'A. S. Brooker. ! Mr. F. W. G. McLeod thanked subscribers ■ for their interest and help, and assured them ! that both the committee and himself were gratified at the interest shown. He asked > all members to Tegularl" attend , the future 1 meetings, and emphasised that good attend--5 ance would be very much appreciated. He i expressed the regret of the choir in losing I the services of their pianist, slr. R. Graves, who is leaving the town, and expressed appreciation of his past services. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. Graves and also to the committee. A lady visitor expressed the wish that the choir might consider the question of permitting ladles so that it would be a "mixed" choir, or that they might have a "ladies" night. The -matter will be considered at a future meeting.
