THE PRINCE IN NEW ZEALAND. AN" ENGLISH COUNTRY PAPER'S DESCRIPTION. The following extract from the paper at Newton Abbot, Devonshire (England) will be Tead with interest and perhaps some amusement by people of Taranaki.:— (From the Press Association's Special Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH (New Zealand), Monday.—During the night the Royal train traversed the dense red pine forest of Waimorine, climbed two thousand feet up the steep Raurimu spiral, past the still smoking summit of the Eouarnlioe volcano, and emerged at daylight into the rich green Taranald pastoral country, where land is changing hands at £l5O per acre. The Prince, despite the easiness of the hour, was cheered by large gatherings of the inhabitants of the prosperous Hawera and Stratford townships as the train ran through. The train then passed beneath the gaunt, snow-streaked, cloud-capped cone of Mount Egmont, and emerged upon open sea and the yellow gorse-encircled city of New Plymouth, where the entire population was assembled to welcome
