LESS SICKNESS.
GOITRE BECOMING PREVALENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. During the week ended at noon today, 104 cases of infectious disease were reported in the Wellington public health district, a decrease of 94 compared with the figures for the previous week. Accurate information regarding influenza is not now available, but it is believed that the malady is less prevalent than was the case several woeics ago. Cases of diphtheria continue to occur sporadically, and last week 33 notifications came to hand. The latest district health bulletin eon-' tains 42 notifications of goitre. This disease has not been made notifiable in the strict sense of the term, but as the Public Health Department is anxious to collate statistics regarding its prevalence medical practictioners have been asked to furnish the department with particulars of cases that coine under their notice. The spread of goitre has been the subject/ of comment during recent; months, and the Health Department intends to undertake a research as to ija causation, "
