The results of last Saturday's matches made little alteration in tho position of the competing teams, Clifton still having a two point lead over Tukapa. The meeting of these teams to-day on Western Park should be a battle worth witnessing. Oh the last occasion when the two teams i met, Clifton gained the verdict by eight points. Clifton will be without the 1 services of Cain, and Tukapa without Brown, both of whom will be battling for the North Island at Wellington. It has been definitely decided that the matches at Hawera during Show Week will be , as usual, Wellington v. Taranakl on Wednesday, and Wanganul v. Taranakl, on Saturday. \ It was found impossible to arrange the flx- . ture with Bay of IMenty. The Auckland-Taranakl match will be played ' at Auckland "ton July 17th. There should be 'plenty of opportunity for young players this season, as quite a number of the representative fixtures will be played while New Zealand's select are away In Australia.
