EVERYBODY'S. LAST NIGHT OF "THE ROUGH NECK." Montague Love appears for the last time to-night at Everybody's in the World Film feature, "The Rough Neck."' The story is of the cave-man type, and shows the curious fascination women have for that type of man. The World Film director in this instance has a firstclass story to work on, and the result is an unusually good dramatic production. Woodland scenery, photographed excellently, is a feature of this film drama. Another exciting episode of the weekly serial, "The Man of Might," will be screened, and several other good pictures complete the programme. BIG DOUBLE BILL TO-MORROW-A brilliant double programme shows to-morrow and Saturday when Olive Thomas stars in a charming French play, "Totor," and Jewel Carmen i>- a Fox feature, "The Bride of Fear." THE PEOPLE'S. "THE MAN FROM KANGAROO. MATINEE TO-DAY AT 3.15. The Australian moving picture industry has at last been placed on a sound foundation by Mr. 15. ,1. Carroll. Until "The Lure of the Bush" nothing had been produced approaching the American standard, and the prejudice against Australian-made pictures was powerful in the land. However, with "The Lure of the Bush" prejudice was shaken; with "The Sentimental Bloke" it tottered; and with "The Man from Kangaroo," it is claimed, this prejudice falls like Lucifer. On August 12 there arrived in Sydney from the big Los Angeles studios, under contract to Mr. E. J. Carroll, producer Wilfred Lucas, lately associated with D. W. Griffiths and the Universal; Bess Meredyth, scenario constructor (who was responsible for the "Daddy Longlegs" continuity) ; Albert Doerrer, camera expert; Hugh R. Noraan, cutter and editor; Miss Brownie Vernon, a brilliant young American type actress, and a full staff of assistants for departments, equipped with the latest moving picture appliances. "j.'he Man from Kangaroo," with "Snowy" Baker in the lead opposite Miss Brownie Vernon, and a specially selected caste, is the result of tlieir four months' work, which naturally, to bear favorable comparison with "The Lure of the Bush" and "The Sentimental Bloke," must set a new standard. This, it is claimed by the Press and public of Australia, it has done, and the supreme confidence of Mr. E. .T. Carroll in his project is therefore justified. "The Man from Kangaroo" will be shown at the matinee to-day at 3.15, and to-night and to-morrow night at 7.45'. The box plan is at Hoffmann's.
