INDECISION OF THE GOVERNMENT, DUNEDIN SOLDIERS PROTEST, By Telegraph.—Preis Assn.—Copyright, Dunedjn, Last Night At a meeting of the Returned Soldiers' Association, a reply was received from headquarters regarding a copy of the ivply of the Minister of Lands concerning the schedule of special circumstances under the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act, which was compiled for the cpngideration of Cabinet. The Minister had written to the Alsociation to the effect that all applications would be considered on their merits until Parliament met and decided what amount could be allocated for such advances during the current financial year. Tlie decision of Cabinet to curtail- recommendations must be given effect to, as the funds at present available demanded some curtailment. The reply of the Minister was conaidered to be unsatisfactory, and the .following motion was passed: "That tkU executive committee of the Dunedin .Returned Soldiers' Association read with regret the reply given by the KZ. R.S.A. by the Hon. the Minister of Lands. The Minister promised the Dominion Executive that he would confer with Cabinet and give a definite reply to each of the special circumstances submitted by'the ■ executive. He has not done so, and has merely evaded the question." •
