A very large conference of persons cw«. nected with the dairy industry to-d»y discussed proposals of the executive "«£ the National Dairy Association in regard to the marketing of butter and cheese.
After a discussion lasting many hours, when some very animated passage* «• occurred, the conference deekttd without dissent, on the motion of Mr. W. D. Powdrell, M,f.i "That this meeting of producers is jpf opinion that immediate steps should be taken to form a company in New Zealand to co-operate with the Wholesale Co-operative Society for marketing our, produce in Great Britain."

London, June 22. •Mr,, Mitchell Thomson, replying to Sic H. Vield, said that following upon tj»e decision of the Government to make So further purchase of imported cheese, this commodity would no longer be controlled, except the balance already coft< tracted for. ',
The Government, he added, was UOt aware that the Co-operative Wholesale Society intends to negotiate for the purchase of New Zealand cheese, but should any attempt be made to exploit the consumer the Food Controller would not hesitate to use any powers provided by Parliament.—Au».-N,Z.
