Bulhird, Commismer of Crown 'Lands, ocunied the chair d there were also present: Messrs. 1!. ngle, T. B. Crump, C. Goodson, J. R. 11, T. R. Anderson, \V. A. Collis, J. B. \ eharda, B. C. Lysaght, and H. Baily. lologies for abscnee were received from jsrsrs. S. Percy Smith, F.R.G.S., Jas. ireia, and G. R. Tylee. It waa reported that Parliament had ted £2OO each for the north and south ids in addition to the annual grant of 200. More than that sum had heen ent on the north road, which was now splendid order. On the south or iwson's Falls Road, a storm about ree months ago washed a portion away id the contract had now been let for er fjjfoo. Mr. B. M. Wilson gennl manager of the Tourist Department, d given him a promise to visit the ads. Mr. Baily explained that last year iplication was made for a subsidy of 1000, but the Tourists Department reied that additional amounts could only i granted for specific works. Altogether 800 had been received from the Govnment last year. The income apart om the Government subsidies had been , follows: Northern Committee £398, luthern Committee £253, East Comittee £BB (including £25 from the ratford Borough Council and West >mmittee £3. He added that one of g reasons why more help was not rthcoming from the Tourist Departent was that the Department had no ntrol over the board, and no say in ? management. Mr. Crump moved: "That application ! made to the Government asking that le annual subsidy to the Board be ineased to £IOOO, to be allocated as the oard thinks desirable. Mr. Lysaght suggested that the Board lould apply to the Government for a rtain amount to be placed on the Es.tiates for the purpose of rebuilding the awson's Falls hostel. If the Governent took sufficient interest in the ountain to vote £3500 for improving le track Jo the Stratford hut, it should [so vote something for re-building the ostel. It was quite obvious that the resent building was most unsuitable nd did not provide sufficient accommoition. Mr. Collis mentioned- that when the ew Plymouth hostel was built, the overnment granted only £GOO, being subsidy against the actual cash which te cdmmittee had the bairic. Mr. ollis remarked that in two years the orthern hostel had had to refuse acDmmodation worth £7OO owing to the ouse being so small. Mr. Lysaght. then moved that the ioard apply to the Government for a rant of £3OOO towards the cost of reuilding the Dawson's Falls hostel. The motion was carried unanimously. ALLOCATION OF GRANT. The allocation of last years Governnent grant of £2OO was fixed as folows: Northern Committee £SO, Southrn Committee £SO, East Hut Comaittee £2O and administration £BO,
