We hope, gentle reader, that you read the statement in the papers the other day regarding the Arbitration Court's views of our methods. It will be remembered that an effort? was made by interested parties to put a spoke in our wheel because we had the temerity to depart from the hoary customs of the past and apply commonsense methods to our production. It took the form of eliminating two clauses of the former award permitting subdivision of labor. We objected, because we knew quite well that if we had to return to the old order of things we would never be able to give customers first-class, tailored suits considerably below the price followers of the antiquated system charge. The Court upheld our objection. Hear what it said:— "The representative of the company proved to the satisfaction of the Court that the system which had been in operation under those clauses by the company had resulted beneficially for the workers concerned, the employers themselves, and the general public. In these circumstances the Court lias made the necessary provisions to enable the company to continue the system it had adopted under the terms of the old award . . . ." We are naturally pleased, and we are sure the public will be too, for they are quick to resent unfair restrictive action of interested parties, especially in these davs of deamess of living.
