RAHOTU. (Prom Our Own Correspondent) The Misses Hopkins and their five brothers one evening last week gave an enjoyable party at their home on the Topika Road. About forty guests attended and a good time was spent In dancing, cards and music. Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins, senr.. are living in retirement in our township, having bought Mrs. Sharrock's house. The welcome home social to the last of our sddiers was well attended and considered very enjoyable, although nnlv one (Banner Woodhead) out of four of the guests was able to be present. Apologies were read from Privates Peat, Knowles and Coleman, each being at different parts of the North Island. Miss Ester Hopkins was called upon to pin on dinner Woodhead's medal, Mrs. Wright taking care of Private Knowles, Mr. Si'hniickle, senr., Private Peat's, and the peeretary will post Private Coleman's. Songs were sung by Misses ltowlands and Stackhouse, anil Atr. H. Hughson, a7id Miss Looney gave a recitation. Mr. L. Bilhy was M.C., and Mr. Hughson chairman. Mr. M. Hill moved a vote of thanks to those who helped In the entertaining at the beginning of the war, mentioning Messrs. L. Evans, llHngsworth and J.lannlg. Messrs Hughson and Wright welcomed the boys linne. and Gunner Woodlioad suitably responded. Plenty of evening entertainment Is taking l>!aro just now. Pictures are held on Monday, a hull dance on Thursday, farewell soda] on' Saturday, ami the footballers have a ball arranged for the :S(ltli. The. Oddfellows are also talking about getting up something, so things are quite lively. Itain has set in with a vengeance after a nice fine spell. Mr. James, senr , and Mr. Sliarpe, both of Kahui Iload, were favewelled last Tuesday evening at the Kahui Eoad School.
