The American Federation of Labor adjourned its annual convention after endorsing the League of Nations without reservations. Irish sympathisers had opposed the endorsement of the league. Mr. Samuel Gompers (the president) is going to Washington to demand the incorporation of Labor's programme into the Democratic platform. The programme includes the ratification of the treaty, the curbing of profiteering, Government ownership of railroads, the abolition of anti-strike legislation, the endorsement of the Irfsh Republic, an advance in wages wherever it is necessary to maintain the American standard of living and a shorter working day to prevent unemployment.
