Holmes Is on the way to New Plymouth from San Francisco with a cargo of benzine. The exact date of her departure from the American port is not known here, but the harbormaster (Captain'W. Waller) has received a letter dated May 24 from Captain Buckland, who was formerly in command of the vessel, advising that she had then left for New Plymouth and was In the command of Captain Anderson. It Is therefore possible that the L. S. Holmes Is now within a few daps of this port, and in any case the vessel should appear In the earlier part of July. The C. S.
