STRATFORD.
[Stratford Representative: W. J. Wilson, Broadway North. Telephone 338.] The engineer of the Stratford County Council (Mr. J. W. Spence) reported at Saturday's meeting of tlie council that the work on the new Einnerty Road bridge would be definitely started on July ]. He explained that the reason for the delay was solely owing to sickness in the contractor's family.
The Stratford Borough Council's resolution urging that legtelatoin be passed this session making Saturday the statutory half-holiday throughout the Dominion, received an uncompromising reception from the Stratford County Council at its meeting on (Saturday. Cr. E, \V. Hancock, in moving that the letter be merely "received," said that the Saturday half-holiday might suit the townspeople, but it was no good to the farmers, and. if adopted, it would mean that the farmers would simply have their own stores at the factories and not come into the town except when absolutely necessary. This opinion was shared by other councillor and the motion was carried unanimously.
