A MOTOR MISHAP.

.JAR OUT OF CONTROL. An extraordinary motor mishap occurred in lower Brougham Street, New Plymouth, shortly after seven O'clock on Saturday night. It appears that a new six-seater motor car had been driven into a garage opposite the Royal Hotel, and while being attended to by the driver, it started off backwards by itself. Before its progress could be arrested it- backed out of the garage, smashed in a portion of the garage door, took away one of the verandah posts, and, after dashing across the road, finished its career by smashing in the window of the sit-ting-room of the Royal Hotel, scattering glass in all directions. Fortunately no one was injured by the car during its career, and the car was only slightly damaged after its unusual behaviour.
