DESTRUCTIVE FOREST FIRE.

THREAT TO FAMOUS RESORT.

By Telegraph —Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 20, 5.5 p.m. London, June 18.

There have been astonishing forest fires in Scotland, including the Glentanar forest, which threatened the destruction of Aboyne, the famous Deeside resort. Troops were called out, and a thousand beaters were engaged. Finally Lord Glentanar ordered that the Aboyne deer forest should be fired, and this saved Aboyne, by holding up the oncoming Glentanar fire. Ten thousand animals were roasted to death. —Ans.N.Z.
