The first representative cricket match, Gentlemen v Players, will be played at the Oval on ihe 30th inst. Warner picks the sides, which Indicates that, he must have the ■most powerful voice in selecting the team for Australia. He has invited Parkin, the Lancashire professional, to play on the 80th. The latter has the reputation of being the best bowler in England since Barnes. Parkin, prefers League cricket, but Warner's invitation, and Lancashire's consent, indicate that Parkin may be invited to Australia, despite the Marylebone ruling barring from representative -matches and tours abroad players not pledging to assist their county when required, For Gloucester against Warwick, Parkin took six wickets for 48 runs, the last Ave in ten balls for no runs. —Aus.-N Z Cable Assn.
