pRTCES of material during the last five years have been steadily rising, and as it lias been our policy to buy ahead and aim at having a 12 months' supply of materials on hand, our customers have not only had the benefit of year old prices but have had the largest and most varied assortment of high-class tweeds, worsteds and serges in Taranaki to choose from. « During the long period of shortage of materials it has been a very difficult matter to build up such a stock. Only by keeping ill close touch with the best warehouses and manufacturers in England and New Zealand, and by our policy of buying for spot cash and in large quantities, has this been possible. We have also been fortunate in having a buyer who has had wholesale experience. Twice a year our stocks are carefully gone through, and every requirement (even to a button) bought. How we are able to buy for spot cash and sell our suits so cheaply we will tell in the next part of our jtory. THE MODERN TAILORS, L TD "BESLET'S" Stratford New Plymouth.
