SUBSIDY FOR A HOSTEL. A request for Government assiat&Bc* towards providing a. hostel for the New Plymouth Girls' High School wm made to the Minister of (the Hon. C. J. Parr) during his recent visit to New Plymouth, deputations asking that the Government should provide a £ for £ subsidy up to £lo,ollv ruined by subscription. On Saturday evening, Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., received a telegram from the Minister stating that 011 the previous dajjf Cabinet had approved of a subsidy on a £ for .C basis on voluntary eontribu» tions only to the extent of £7500.
