WINTER SHOW.
PEOPLE'S DAY. THE POttoTRY. EXHIBITION. LET OP AWABDS. The Witter Show at New Plymouth Was continued yesterday, when, despite unfavorable weather conditions, there Wfcs a very good attendance both afternoon and evening. In the evening an excellent programme of music Was rendered by Mrs. Hoverley's orchestra. All the prise awards were made on the first day with the exception of the poultry section, and judging in that class was continued. Mr. Thompson, the poultry judge, considered that the exhibits in many classes were greatly improved, but some classes were below par. In Leghorns the competition was strong and the birds we'e good. The winner was a bird of good type, carriage, feathers and head. In Silver Wyandottes the birds were a credit, and would win in any show- The winning hen was perfect. Rhode Island Reds were very good. Bantams Were extremely good, Peking especially so, and though entries were small, the quality was 'good. Touching utility classes, the judge was sorry to say the long spokeu 9f standard was not yet available to permit birds to be judged up to that standard for Utility White Leghorns. In Black Orpingtons the quality was good. Details of the prlae awards are as follow:
