Pony brought £2 10s, cows £3 6s to £7 10s, weaner heifers poor £1 Ss to £1 7s 6d. At Eltham Yards, on Wednesday, we had a good entry, and nearly all was sold at the hammer. At Hawera yards, on Friday, we bad a good entry of sheep and cattle. Dairy Soles—The severe weather of Inst week has had had a quieting effect upon the demand for dairy cattle. This is no doubt accounted for by the fast going oft of the grass. However, with the bright prospects ahead for next season's butter fat, there Is every reason to believe that the demand of a few weeks backs will yet be maintained. At Manala, on Tuesday, we sold Ihe herd of Mr. Grlgg. Bidding opened dull, but Improved later. Sundries and implements brought value. The top dairy cows showing Jersey brought £2O to £26, the others £l2 to £l9. At Hnwera yards, on Wednesday, we sold Mr. Bartlett's herd. Bidding was Inclined lo drag. Dairy cows Brought £l2 to £3O. Ihe demand for Jersey and Jersey cross Is as keen as before. Sundries sold well. N.Z. L. AND M. REPORT. At Opunake, on Monday, we held our usual fortnightly sale. We quote: Store cows £4 10s to £B, culls £5 to £B. weaner steers £2 to S3 ss, weaner heifers 30s to £3 empty 20-month heifers £4 2s 6d to £7' dairy heifers £lO tn £l4 10s. At Papakura, on Friday, we held a special dairy sale, there being an average yarding. Best dairy cows £lO to £23, others £lO to Sls 153, aged and inferior cows £3 to £8 10s; best heifers £l4 to £l9, others £8 to £l3 15s.
At Wcstfleld fat stock market beef was penned In average numbers, bidding was er- ] ratio. With few exceptions prices were slightly easier. We quote; Choice oxen to £2 12s per 100 lb, prime oxen £2 7s to £2 10s per 1001b, rough and inferior oxen, £1 ITs to £2 0s per 1001b; cow and heifer beef Bold at from £1 17s to £2 7s per 1001b.
