Sir, —I note your disclaimer In Thursday's issue, but the enclosed copy of the extract will show that it was the wording of your own comment, not that of the cable, to which I took exception. I am sorry that your reader has made such a hash of my communication, but I suppose we must blame the linotype.—l am, etc., CIVIS ROMANUS SUM. (The explanatory footnote was taken from the cable of the previous day, the term to which our correspondent takes exception appearing In that message. It certainly was not used in an offensive sense.—Ed.]
