NEW U.S. PRESIDENT.
THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE. TWO NAMES MENTIONED. By Telegraph.—Prpss Asjn Copyright. Received June 7, 10.30 p.m. New York, June 7. The Chicago correspondent of the New York Times says that with the Republic-an-convention only a few days off no one can even hazard a guess as to who will be noninated. However, a considerable boom for Mi. H. C. Hoover (the ex-Food Controller) started tonight, but the boomers have not yet come ont into the open, though it is whispered that big interests are backing him It is argued that Hoover is a friend of the League of Nations, and the League supporters will naturally back him. It would seem to-night, however, that Senator Johnson is the favorite. Women are expected to play a big part in this year's Presidential nomination.— AUS.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
