PERSONAL.

Mr. Alfred Greenfield, of Nelson, formerly a stipendiary magistrate of the Dominion, and who was stationed in Paimerston North many years ago, has died at Nelson. The deceased gentleman liad reached the advanced age of 93 years. The. Rev. W. L. Salter, well-known in Wellington, who was on his way Honu> with his wife after visiting the Baptist Missions station in Eastern Bengal, died at sea three days out from Colombo. Mr. Salter was pastor of the Caversham Baptist Church for several years, and afterj wards of the cliurch at Ashburton. I Mr. T, A. Bamber, of Wanganui, who was born in 1804, and was for years om. of the leading farmers of the Fordell district, is dead. He took a prominent part in public life, and had been a member of the Wanganui Harbor Board, Wellington Military Service Board, and Wanganui County Council. Reference to the impending retirement of Mr. James Rolleston, who has been proprietor of the Grand Hotel (Auckland) since 1905, was made at the meeting of the Auckland Licensing Committee. Mr. Rolleston has been in ill-health for many years'. He intends to leave this month for Sydney, where he will in future reside.

A wedding.pf great interest was solemnised,,at Ndfjnanby by the Rev. Mr Murray on Wednesday, the participants being Percy James, eldest son of Air. it. J. Linn, of "Mountain View," Normanby, and Edith, fourth daughter of Mr. D. Grantham, of ""Sunnythorpe," Normanby. The church was prettily decorated by the friends of the bride. Lieut. J. T. Dallinger lias (reports the Star) resigned his position in the Defence Department, and is going to leave at the end of the month, and will subsequently bo placed on the retired list. Lieut. Dallinger, who intends to live in Lower Hutt, has been connected with the Hawera office of the Department for many years. He enlisted from Hawera at the outbreak of the war, and served in Galiipoli, Egypt and France. Lieut. Dallinger has always taken a keen interest in rifle shooting, and he has also organised several successful military tournaments in Taranaki.

A goodly number of friends and wellwishers assembled in the Lowgarth factory on Friday evening to bid "au revoir" to Mr. and Mrs. B. Booker and family, who are leaving the district tj reside in New Plymouth. Mr. E. Kilbride (chairman of tho "send-off" committee) presented Mr. and Mrs. Booker with two oak Morris chairs and a wellframed illuminated address, on behalf of the settlers, Mr. Fear on (chairman of the loeal factory) added a few words of appreciation of Mr. Booker's work as a director and some time chairman of the factory. Mr. Booker responded. Mr. H. P. H. Grave, who is shortly leaving New Plymouth for Auckland, was yesterday given a farewell by the combined Bible classes of Whitely Church. Up to quite recently Mr. Grave has been the leader of the boys' class, and the young ladies' class provided tea in their class room in order to give both the classes and the Sunday Schoolteachers an opportunity of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Grave and bidding them good-bye, The Rev. J. Napier Milne presided, and in a few well-chosen words expressed the sense of loss felt by all at the approaching removal of Mr. Grave, and wished him and his family success and happiness in their new sphere. Several others also spoke of behalf of different sections of the church organisation, and Mr. Grave suitably responded.
