At the conference between Sir George Clifford and the jockeys, a request was made for au increase of 50 per cent, on losing fees, and a flat rat© of 5 per cent, on all winning mounts and placemoney above £IOO. Sir Gonrge Clifford agreed to bring the proposal before the Racing Conrerenc© nna to support It. The jockeys argued In favor of increasing the minimum weight to 7st. After a long discussion it was agreed to debate the proposal at the racing conference. Riders also asked that welter weights should be curried from May 1 Instead of June 5 as now, to , August 31.

It was agreed that clubs should be asked not to postpone the starting time of races, aiul that riders afte'r doing preliminaries should be allowed to return to the bird cage when the weather was wet. They also asked that the jockeys should hare the right to be represented by a licensed jockey at all inquiries, and that all programmes must hare a hurdle race, or jumpers' flat handicap, and one apprentice's race on them.

The .Tockeyr/ Association holds that the conference was non-representative, but claims Inat some of the matters considered had already been put forward by the Association, and been refused.

Amongst the local followers of tl'e turf, the following leave New Plymouth by to-day's mail train in order to attend the' Auckland meeting: Messrs. R. L Parkin. H Cook A. George, E. Moon, B Burke, J. Abbott' B. Birch, and L. B. Webster.
