The delegates to the Acclimatisation Conference (Messrs- Kirkwood and Walsh) reported having attended the conference called to discuss amalgamation between the Hawera, Stratford, and New Plymouth Societies, to pool funds and establish one big hatchery for fish and game. Regret was expressed that a spirit of commercialism was introduced, the Hawera delegates frankly stating that what was wanted was that StratforiJ and New Plymouth should become customers to the Hawera Society.
