The* committee found the grounds in a fairly bad state of disrppair, the sheep and cattle pens requiring a fair amount of improvement. The question of providing shelter for the dairy cow?, and better accommodation for pigs, was tentatively discussed on the ground, but it was decided to consider the matter at a subsequent meeting. After the inspection the committee returned to the secretary's office, where a meeting was lield, Mr. Sangster presiding. 1 The chairman said that big improvements were necessary, and he thought It would be better to draw up a scheme first, due consideration being given to the question of finance. Mr. Jackson expressed the opinion that it was too late in the season to do much before the show. He did not Vvant to see any makeshift work done, and as soon as possible they should set to work in a proper manner and make a permanent job of the improvements. That, however, was impossible this year, iw cement and timber were unprocurable, and it seemed to him that the best they could do would be to spend a little money patching up this year and to start out on the bigger scheme next year, when probably cement and iron would be cheaperOther speakers concurred. Mr. Dagg moved that it be a recommendation to the executive that, on all outside repairs and renewals, the posts should be tarred before being put into the ground, and should also be painted. This was agreed to. Mr. Dagg also moved that a committee should be set up to consider the question of improvements and to submit their report at the following meeting. The motion was carried, and the president and Messrs J. W. Boon, MT. Phillips, C. Jackson, W. 11. Rutledge, Kendriek, Perry, and Webster were appointed to the committee. On the motion of Mr. Pollock it was decided to form a working bee to effect minor repairs at the showgroundsThe chairman, on behalf of Mr. Iltiggett, gave notice of motion that the question of farming the grounds be discussed at the next meeting.
