DRIED MILK FACTORY.
MORRTNSYILLE'S PROJECT. A largely-attended mooting' of farmer? was lield at Morrinsville last week, to consider a proposal to proceed with the dried milk factory a.t Movrmsville. Mr. VV. Goodfellow explained that owing to the difficulty in getting satisfactory tenders, and the high cost of building, the work had been delayed. Hie new proposal was to build a two-unit factory at Mcrrinaville at a cost of .€40,000. This cost would comprise £15,000 for buildings, and £23,000 for plant and the price of land. The plant would deal with milk from 3000 to .1500 cows, and, if a concentrator wore added, with milk from .4000 cows. The factory would bo of throe stories, and it would be erected by day labor. It. would probably bo completed next autumn. Mr. Ooodfellow said that at a conservative estimate the net return to suppliers would be 2s (id per lb of butter-fat. The gross return would bo .'ls, but (id would be deducted to cover the cost of the factory, which would be paid for in two and a iialf years. Mr. Ooodfellow said he had no hesitation in recommending dairy farmers to support the proposal. There was an assured demand for dried milk, while butter would increase in price. The original guarantors were invited to vote as to whether the project should be proceeded with, and tlicy favored the proposal by 35 votes to 10, or by 1:189 cows to 2SO. The number of cows guaranteed to date is 3358.
