HOUSING DIFFICULTY.
MATERIALS VERY SCARCE. By Telegraph.—Pre". Association. Wellington, May 29. From a statement by the Hon. W. H. Ilerries, Minister of Labor, it appears that nine dwellings have, been completed, 1 f>7 are in course of erection, tenders have been received for 127, and GO!) more were in contemplation. So far the chief difficulty had not been labor but materials. With regard to present contracts builders are being assisted with materials, but in future works contractors, it is hoped, will find the timber, etc.
