In the second portion of the 1 programme she sang "Love's Garden of Roses" and "Daddy," and with Mrs. Symes a duet "Farewell to Summer." Mr. T. W. F. Robertson (tenor) was slightly handicapped with his voice, as he was just recovering from an attack of influenza, but his rendering of "Mary" thoroughly pleased the audience, and for an encore he sang "Adieu, Marie," also with pleasing effect. His other items were''Songs of Araby" and "Fleurette." Mr. Wilkie's items were mostly of a Scottish nature, and included "Tabarmony," "Weddin' of Sandy McNab," "Lass o' Killicrankie," "Early in the Mornin'," "It's Nice to Get'Up in .the Mornin'," "Not Too Bad," and "Sophie's Sweethearts (impersonations). The singing of the National Anthem concluded the programme. The floor was then cleared and dancing was carried on until the early hours, accompanied by Fox's orchestra. Mr. R. Phillips capably carried out the duties of M.C. The supper arrangements were in the hands of the committee which arranged the function, consisting of Messrs. A. Huggett (chairman), W. Pettigrew, E. H. Linnell, W. Pollock, R. Phillips, C. A. Marchant, E. S. Walker and W. D. Colson. INFLUENZA. The report of the health inspector fov Southern Taranaki (Mr. A. Gray) shows that from April lfi to May 27, 445 cases of were reported in ISltham, Stratford, Ivaponga, and the immediate neighborhood, the majority of the cases being of a mild nature. Two deaths were notified of people suffering from influenza, but in each of these cases tho patient had been subject to other ailments and death was the result of complications. JL'here are not now any serious cases in tho district. The inspector added that the consensus of opinion among the medical men throughout the district was that the mild wave of influenza which had descended upon the district had now practically passed and very few additional cases were now bein<* reported. " GENERAL. A dedication festival will be held at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday, and Archdeacon Evans will conduct both morning and evening services. Tho offertories will be devoted to the fund for erecting the Peace window in the church 1 as a memorial to fallen soldiers. It is : understood that the window will arrive in Stratford in a few days' time. A violent gale was experienced in ' Stratford in the early hours of this morning, but no sorious damage has been done. To-day the storm has continued, accom- y panied by hail this afternoon. At times, however, the sun shone forth for a brief 1 period only to be followed by more wind ' rain, and hail. '

Mr. and Mrs. R. Masters left by the mail train this morning on a fortnight's holiday visit to the South Island. A grand plain, fancy dress and masquerade ball will be held in the Town Hall on June 3rd (King's Birthday n ight), under the direction of Mr. Cha3. H. Fox. Cash prizes wilj be given for the best dresses. Dancing will be from S p.m. until 2 a.m., the grand march taking place at 0 p.m. Fox's orchestra of seven instruments will provide the music. Particulars as to prices of admission are advertised in this issue.
