HOME SERVICE LEAGUE.

To those moil who served on homo service in the Dominion during the war, it may be of interest to learn that a League has been formed with a view to obtaining some (Government recognition for such service. The. Ilomc Service League of Xew Zealand, as il is termed, has only recently been registered under "The Incorporated Societies Act, 1 DOS," and the aims and objects of the organisation are briefly: (a) To obtain the payment of a war grat/ity to its. members; (b) to bring about the enactment of legislation wJiereby members may be entitled to participate in (he privileges and benefits under "The Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act, 101")," and "The Repatriation Act, and amendments thereof; (e) to obtain the payment of the increased separation allrwance to the members affected; and (d) to obtain the payment of the mufti allowance. It is further the intention of the League to take up and investigate alleged cases of less or hardship arising out of or attributable to the military service of any members. Branches have been established in all the principal centres of (lie Dominion and the present membership approximates three thousand, with every prospect of doubling that number in the near future. At the present time a petition is being forwarded from headquarters to all towns and districts in which it is considered there are sufficient men concerned to merit such a step,

and immediately tlie signing of the petition is completed tliu League will be >ll a position to present its claims to Parliament. From tlie fact that upwards of fifty members of the House have promised to support the claims of the League there appears no doubt but tlmt the claims will, in the main, be granted, and the executive of the organisation are particularly sanguine of sueccxe. It in anticipated that everything will he in readiness to submit the claims to the House at the forthcoming session which is due to commence on or about 24th .Tune next.
