The despatch of a ritle team to Australia will be definitely decided by shooting tests, lasting three days, which have begun at Bls-ley.—Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn. HAWERA DEFENCE CLUB. The annual meeting of tfffe above club was held at Hawera on Wednesday, Mr. J. G. Nichol presiding. Tho report stated the position of the club to be very satisfactory, It having annexed and retained the Taranaki Challenge Shield, tho Patea Teams' Cup, tho New Plymouth Teams' Cup, competed ,at the Now South Wales championship meeting, also at the Wairarapn amU,Trentham, losing tho Dominion Association's Shield by two points. The Club's Championship Belt was won by Rflra. E. Ingram. Mr. .1. 0. Nichol was re-elected president. At the close of the meeting, the annual dinner took place atid a lengthy toast list was honored.
