RED ADVANCE.
THE THREAT TO , PERSIA. AIMS OF THE BOLSHEVIKS. By Telennph.—rress Assn.—Ccpyricht. Received May 28, 12.5 a.m. Delhi, May 24. The seizure of Baku proved a prelude to the renewal of Bolshevik activities in the Caspian area. The object of the attack on Enzcli on the ISth inst. was the recovery of some ships of the Russian volunteer army, which made their way thither from Baku, and had been interned. The Soviet commander demanded the ships, declaring he had no designs against the British, and promised to retire from Enzeb, having achieved his purpose. In order to avoid a collision the British forces were withdrawn, pending negotiations between the British and the Soviet commander. All was quiet in Rcsht and Enzeli on the 20th inst.,, but further activity was reported in the direction of Astara, a, Caspian seaport on the Persian frontier, a hundred miles north of Enzeli.—AusN.Z.
