THE GALLIC. ARRIVAL AT NEW PLYMOUTH. I The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's liner Gallic arrived at New Plymouth yesterday ! morning from the United Kingdom, via Australian ports, on her first voyage In these waters. The Gallic Is one of the standard ships built during the war, and Is therefore a new vessel, having been registered at the Port of Liverpool- In July, 1919. Her gross tonnage Is 7912, and, although she Is i therefore not the largest vessel that has been berthed here, she Is the longest, being 480 feet, whilst her breadth is 5(1 feet. The Gallic sailed from England with a general cargo for Australian ports and, after completing discharge, caime on to New Zealand, New Plymouth being her first port of call In Dominion waters. She loads 2887 carcases of mutton and 4113 quarters of beef here, and then proceeds to Waltnrn, Wanganul,' and Lyttelton to complete loading for Home Captain J. Thompson, C.8.E.. ORE, Command R.N.R , Is In command, and has with him Hie following officers: Chief, Mr N Gole; first, Mr. H. McGill; second. Mr. J. S. Cairns; purser and chief steward, Mr. Owen Prltchard; chief engineer. Mr. A. Wharton; second, Mr .T. Rue; third, Mr. .1. L. Armstrong; Intermediate third, Mr. O. c. Wrlghtraan: assist- • ant third, Mr. A. Faraghcr; fourth. Mr. S. T Stott; assistant fourth. Mr. W .Towart; Junior fifth. Mr J. Fair: sixth, Mr. E A. Stitch; and \v:o wireless operators (first, Mr. W. T. Lines: secVind, Mr. Mannlx), and a crew of 91. Quite a number of the crew are Royal Naval Reserve men. and many have had considerable war experience. THE PARITUTU. The Harbor Beard's dredge Parltutu, which left Wellington on her return to New Plymouth at 8 a rn. on Monday, had not put in an nppeiirancc here last evening, and no word had been received of her. It is believed she has taken, shelter from the unfavorable wind In Cook Strait Captain MeMahon is In command, and has with him Captain Jensen as mate, and Mr. Jackson, of the Thomas ,' King. • THE RARAWA. The Rarawa left Onehunga at noon yesterday, and should arrire here earlv this morning. She will sail for the north again after the arrival of the mail train to-night. THE KAHIKA. The Kahlka which is coming her from Lyttelton, via Nelson, Is expected on Saturday. THE KARAMU. The Karamu is to load State coal at Greymouth at an early date She Is expected hco about the beginning of next week The shipment will consist of 900 tons, and it Is understood about 500 tons will be for the New Plymouth Gas Company. THE WAIPORI. The work nf discharging the Walporl has heen subjected to much delav through broken weather, but It In expected) she wilt be ready to sail for Westport thu evenlee, THE CORINNA. The Corlnna Is now scheduled to leave Wellington at noon to-day, and should therefore reach New Plymouth at an early hour toi morrow morning. She is bringing a full shlp- ! inent of 1100 tons of cargo.
