REPATRIATION.

NEW PLYMOUTH COMMITTEE. A meeting of the New Plymouth Repatriation Committee was held Inst night. Present: Mears. C. H. Weston (chairman), C. Carter, H. R. Cattley, W. J. Chnney, It. J. Clarke, T. Furlong, P. Hartnell, P. W. Ofcey, 3. R. Rowlands, E. Whittle, and the secretary (Mr. A. S. Allen). An apology for absence was received from Mr. T. t\ List. Tlie payment of retained portion of subsidy to a farm trainee win had satisfactorily completed his period of training, was authorised. An application for a loan of £3OO to purchase a business was deferred for further lu»ve)tlgntlcn. An advance of £BO .for stamp duly and expenses was recommended to the Ministerial Board for approval. Two applications for furniture loans of £TS each, recommended by the Optinake Committee, and one from the Waitara. Committee for £SO, were granted. Sir other applications for furniture loans for amounts from £25 to £TS were also granted. A loan of £SO for tools of trade and Initial expenses was made to a returned soldier starting on Ills own account as a carpenter. Financial assistance for thirteen months was granted to two discharged soldiers who desired to. learn carpentry, and an application from a disabled soldier (recommended by tlie Waltara Committee) who dbslred to learn a new trade, was also approved.
