LIGHT SMALLPOX.
CASES IN SOUTHLAND. By Telemph -Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. In view of the fact that in the Southland district the epidemic of varioloid varicella, otherwise modified smallpox, shows a tendency to increase, the Health Department is now urging the advisability of general vaccination in the Otago hospital district. The outbreak appears to Ibe about stationary, and in the Oamaru district no fresh cases have been reported. Invereargill, Last Night. Two further notifications of mild smallpox bring the number of cases in the Southland hospital district to fourteen, ten being in Invereargill, and four at Gore. All contacts have been «j«arantined, and the district health officer issues a further warning to the public regarding the wisdom of submitting to vaccination.
